Backing Ambition and Removing Barriers

Students come to UNT ready to work. Together, we can remove the obstacles that stand in their way — from the burden of extra jobs to unexpected emergencies — so their determination turns into degrees.

Campaign priorities focus on eliminating financial and structural obstacles that derail student progress:

  • Scholarships and Fellowships (need- and merit-based)
  • Paid Internships and On-Campus Employment that provide real-world experience
  • Emergency Grants and Basic Needs Support (housing, food security, childcare)
  • Graduate Student Stipends and Health Coverage Improvements

These investments ensure students stay enrolled, finish strong, and launch into their futures without carrying the weight of financial uncertainty.

Funding First-Gen Students
UNT programs like the Emerald Eagle Scholars program, which targets incoming freshmen with a total family income of $65,000 or less, helps students find the financial resources to afford college while also providing a strong support system for their academics and requiring campus engagement.

Funding Students’ Needs
In only its second year, the Diamond Eagles society generated $90,000 of funding to put towards multiple student service initiatives. These included the UNT Food Pantry, Gowns for Grads, and the UNT Suit Up Closet, the last of which provides students with professional attire for job interviews, internships, and other professional development opportunities.

Giving Access to Transportation
The Diamond Eagles Society of alumni and donors gave more than $75,000 to the UNT ELEVAR program. This helped ELEVAR purchase a new passenger van and provide greater access to students with disabilities, both on-campus and off-campus.
